Set Up Abandoned Cart Emails in Systeme.io (Funnels or Ecommerce)

Someone almost bought... then ghosted. Most people let that money disappear. You won’t.

Systeme.io lets you trigger abandoned cart emails — even if you’re not running a full ecommerce store.

Two Ways to Do This

🛒 1. Abandoned Cart via Product Page (Ecommerce)

If you're using Systeme.io’s built-in product checkout:

  1. Go to Automation → Rules → Add Rule

  2. Trigger: “Page visited” (checkout page)

  3. Condition: No purchase within X minutes/hours

  4. Action: Send reminder email or tag + campaign

✅ Works for digital products, coaching, anything

📄 2. Abandoned Cart in a Funnel (Hacky but Works)

  1. Create your funnel with separate steps:

    • Step 1: Order page

    • Step 2: Thank-you page (after purchase)

  2. Go to Automation Rules on the order page

  3. Trigger: “Page visited”

  4. Action: Delay 1 hour → check if they visited thank-you

  5. If not, send a “forgot something?” email

Optional: tag them abandoned-cart so you can follow up again later.

What to Say in the Email

  • “Looks like you didn’t finish…”

  • Remind them of the benefits

  • Use social proof or urgency

  • Include a single CTA back to the checkout

You can also add a bonus (discount, freebie, etc.) if they return within 24h.

Keep It Short and Personal

Text-only works best here. No big sales pitch. Just “Hey, you left this behind” with a clickable button.

Send one reminder. Maybe two. Don’t be that guy.

🛍️ Almost Didn’t Plug This (But I Will)

If you're not tagging your leads the moment they come in, you're wasting segmentation power. Good news: you can do it automatically — and invisibly.

Here’s how to auto-tag new contacts so your list stays clean without lifting a finger.

What You’ll Use

  • Funnel or Form

  • Automation Rule

  • One-time config. That’s it.

Step-by-Step: Tag on Funnel Entry

  1. Go to your funnel

  2. Click on the step (e.g. opt-in page)

  3. Scroll to Automation Rules

  4. Click Add Rule

    • Trigger: Form submitted

    • Action: Add tag → e.g. lead, ebook-optin, from-seo, etc.

Now every new signup from that funnel gets tagged instantly.

Bonus: Stack Multiple Tags

You can add more than one.

Example:

  • Tag 1: lead

  • Tag 2: blog-reader

  • Tag 3: funnel-a-entry

Now you know who they are, where they came from, and what they want — without asking them anything.

Step-by-Step: Tag from Email Click

Want to tag contacts who click a specific email link?

  1. Go to your email

  2. Highlight a link

  3. Enable Tracking

  4. Set Action: Add tag (e.g. interested-in-product-A)

This is perfect for segmenting based on behavior — not guesses.

Why Tag Automatically?

  • Better targeting

  • Smarter automations

  • Higher conversions

  • Fewer unsubscribes

  • You stay organized as you scale

You don’t need to build logic trees in your head. Just tag as you go.
